Residential Extended Care
The residential care facilities are located in Melrose Park, Forest Park, and Maywood, Illinois. The overall goal of our residential extended care program is to help our clients begin and develop a sober life. Sobriety is the foundation to living a productive life.
The length of stay in our residential program is determined by individual needs.
- The chemical dependency track is a 90 day minimum stay.
- The dual diagnosis program may last up to six months.
Clients receive between five to nine hours of clinical services weekly.
There are also special programs that assist with time management, employment, budgeting, and obtaining a GED if needed.
Upon completion of the residential extended care program the client may apply to live in one of our recovery homes. This allows the client to transition to independent living.

12 Step Program
A 12-Step program is important for continued sobriety.
While living at the The Way Back Inn, clients will attend three in-house and two outside 12-Step meetings a week: Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), or Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
Each client must have a 12-Step sponsor. It’s highly recommended to start off attending 90 12-Step meetings in 90 days in order to start developing a sober lifestyle.
All clients are encouraged to attend weekly 12-Step meetings:
- Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
- Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
- Gamblers Anonymous (GA)
Family members are also encouraged to attend 12-Step meetings:
- Family Anonymous (FA)
A family education and group therapy is held weekly. Family members are invited to participate to better understand the disease of addiction and offer support to each other. Individual family counseling is also available to address family issues.
