RESIDENTIAL/HALFWAY HOUSE

SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND GAMBLING LONG TERM RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS

** All clients wishing to receive therapy at a Level III.I treatment facility must first be assessed by an accredited counselor at the time of intake. If a client meets the requirements set by the ASAM criteria, they then can gain admittance into the house. **

Structured Living
Clients are required to search and find full-time employment, follow a daily schedule, and engage in activities that develop daily living skills. Clients learn time management, budgeting and participate in a savings plan. The primary emphasis of day-to-day activities is based on a rapid return to everyday living as a responsible family member, contributing community member and self-sufficiency.

Therapy
Our program emphasizes treating the whole person, not just their illness. We are committed to treating each client with dignity and respect and to developing an individualized treatment plan. The length of stay in our residential program is determined by individual needs. The Chemical Dependency track is usually a minimum of 90 days. The Dual Diagnosis track may be up to six months. Clients receive between five to nine hours of clinical services each week including individual counseling, a variety of didactic and therapeutic groups, medication and nutritional assessments. The dually diagnosed client will also receive education about their secondary psychiatric diagnosis and the proper use of medication (if applicable) that will allow him/her to lead a full, responsible life. A Family Education Group is also held weekly. Family members are invited to participate regularly to better understand the disease of addiction and offer support and hope to each other. Individual family counseling is also available to address family issues. Clients who meet the requirements can also be eligible to take part in our Male Initiative treatment program as well. Additional groups and additional individual sessions will take place for the male clients who are also in need of these services.

Recovery
The overall goal of our Residential Extended Care program is to help our clients achieve a healthy lifestyle without the use of illicit drugs or alcohol. While living at the Way Back Inn/Grateful House, clients attend three in-house and two outside Twelve Step meetings a week. Each client must have a primary and secondary sponsor and is encouraged to have frequent sponsor contact each week. We believe a solid foundation in a Twelve Step Program is important for continued Sobriety. Our continuum of care provides ongoing support. Residential program graduates may apply to live in our transitional housing. This allows them to progressively move from the highly structured environment to total independent living. A relapse prevention specialist facilitates a weekly Aftercare Group. This group provides an opportunity to further explore relapse prevention, problem solving techniques, and relationship issues. Individual outpatient counseling is also available to residential program graduates.
